 Facebook Page Timeline Setup Tutorial

It’s day one of the Facebook Page Timeline Setup Tutorial! Today’s task is to highlight all of your important status updates or page comments.

To highlight a post, drag your mouse over it and a star and pencil icon will appear in the top right, like this:

To highlight a post, drag your mouse over it and click the star icon that appears in the top right corner.

To highlight the post, click the star icon. Clicking on the star icon will make the post look wider and more prominent, like this:

What stories should I highlight?

I would recommend going through and first highlighting all compliments or favorable reviews that have been left on your page by customers. Here’s a great example:

A couple other suggestions for highlighted stories:

-Events you hosted

-Special company announcements you’ve made

-Employee recognition posts

-General information you’ve posted about your products or services

Using the Activity Log to manage stories

It might be a lot of scrolling to go through all of your wall posts and comments in order to find the ones you want to highlight. That’s why Facebook offers the Activity Log to help you see all of your posts in a more condensed view.

To access the activity log, click on Manage in the admin panel:

Then click on Use Activity Log:

This is your activity log. From here you can sort by date, month, and type of post. If you want to work on highlighting customer compliments like today’s task instructs, click on the All button in the top right, and then click on Posts by Others:

Do you have any questions? Suggestions on stories to highlight? Let us know in the comment section.

According to Facebook, these page changes must be done by March 30th. If you don’t have the time to devote to updating your business page, email me, and I will set it up for you for $150.

I believe that social media gives small businesses & nonprofits the advantage over big corporations. Social media levels the playing field and no longer gives the advantage to the company with the most money, but rather to the company that is the most transparent, engaging, and in tune with its community. I want to help your business or nonprofit stand out in the crowd and take advantage of the many benefits social marketing has to offer. I want to see your business grow, your website traffic increase, your customers become your biggest endorsers, all while reducing the costs of your marketing efforts. I believe that together we can make that happen. I’ve worked with small businesses, authors, and nonprofits – giving me a variety of experiences to draw from. I understand the technology and what drives social marketing – but most of all I love what I do. I’m confident I can help transform your company’s online presence – and ultimately its presence in your community as well. Check out
