Facebook Page Timeline Setup Tutorial

The final step in the Facebook Page Timeline Setup Tutorial is to launch your new Timeline! You should have done a review to make sure everything looks good in the last step, so now all that’s left is to publish your page, let people know about your new Timeline, and pin a message to the top.

New “Pin To Top” Feature

The last new feature of Timeline that we will cover is the pinning feature. It’s important for you to know and understand this feature because it is one of the main ways you can customize your page and capture leads or inspire action. It “pins” whatever status message you choose to the top of the page so that it shows up first, even if you publish a status update after it.

To pin a post, click on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner and choose “Pin to top”:

A pinned post will have a bookmark in the top left corner and appear at the top of the page, like this:

Some ways to use this feature:

-Pin your most recent deals or coupons for your Facebook fans to the top of your page.
-Pin your latest blog post.
-Pin your favorite quote.
-Pin upcoming events.
-Pin a photo with the action step you want your customers to take (for example, “Like our page to hear about our latest events first” or “Visit our website to see our sale items.”

Notes:
-You cannot highlight AND pin a post.
-You can only pin one post at a time.
-Pins last up to 7 days, at which point you will need to re-pin the post or pin something different. Kind of annoying, I know.
Hint: Another way you can pull an old story to the top of your page is to change the date of the story to be more recent. You can do this by clicking on the pencil icon and choosing change date.

Launch Your Timeline

Now there’s just one thing left to do – launch your Timeline! At the top of the page there should be a button that says Publish Now (as long as you are still in preview mode).

Click this to activate your Timeline.
Now that your Timeline is launched you should do two things.
1) Pin the post you’ve chosen to the top, and
2) Tell all of your fans to check out your new, beautiful Timeline Facebook Page!
Congratulations for going through the whole tutorial and DIY’ing your Facebook Timeline Page. I’m so proud of y’all!
